Welcome to our blog, The Bench Press.  Get it?!  We know, puns ARE awesome!  Almost as awesome as late night Stephen King movie marathons or, better yet, the made-for-TV movie Ghost Shark.  (If you haven't seen it, contact us & we'll set up a movie night. Let's just say it will change your life!)

This blog is dedicated to training holistically, eating happily & living vibrantly.  As holistic personal trainers & yoga teachers, we are passionate about sharing how we eat, workout, & get our zen on.  We have learned quite a few fun, effective tips from our years as trainers with a variety of wonderful clients & want to share all that we've learned & continue to learn with you.  Our philosophy is simple: we believe in gastric delights that come from whole foods rather than processed packages (except for gummi bears, Ryan LOVES gummi bears), yoga that is about much more than flexibility & smart training that starts with safe alignment & ends with great results.  If you love weighlifting, endurance sports, yoga & meditation, or healthy eating, welcome home!  If you're not so sure yet, hop right in & have fun reading around!  We're glad you're here either way!

P.S. THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT US:

1. We adore fluff-babies of all kinds, especially those of our clients including dogs, cats, bunnies, & any other adorable creatures!  We do post pictures!

2. We believe a great sense of humor, kindness, & movie nights with friends & family can save the world.

3. We are passionate about human rights & fresh sushi.  So if you're involved in a great HR project, let us know.  If you work in a HR office & your team would enjoy a much-deserved stress-relieving yoga class, get in touch!  

4. We believe all humans deserve to feel strong, great about the way they look, & awesome about the things they accomplish with their bodies & minds.  This is particularly important for girls & young women.  In the U.S., numerous studies show girls' self-esteem, body image, & confidence participating in class (particularly in some of the most lucrative & important subjects for future careers--math & science) plummet during puberty.  Recent studies also show that movement can help empower girls to claim their voices, become leaders, & be brave in pursuing their interests whether that's art, engineering, or neuroscience.  That's why we love to offer special events that help girls & women claim their power through movement & body-positive workshops.  Before becoming a trainer & yoga teacher, Jenny received an M.A. in Comparative Women's History & Gender Studies so she's well suited for the job!  To learn more, contact us!
